I was pretty impressed with the usefulness of this adapter. Really didn’t think i’d use it much at first but it’s fun to use and east to keep focus once set up. You need to have an eyepiece (I used a 25mm) in the telescope to make focus. Most eyepieces have rubber cups that fold down you will need to fold them down to make a secure connection and the round gripper on this adapter has 3 arms that grip around the eyepiece by twisting the ring it looks like it will fit most 1.25″ eyepieces. Its a bit fiddly to line up your camera sensor but there are several adjustments you can make and I’d think it would fit most phones (My wife’s has the camera off to the side and it fit fine). I was a little skeptical at first but it actually held my Droid Maxx (big phone) pretty well once adjusted. Just for testing I taped a 500g weight on the glass side of my phone (pictured ) and it held up pretty good of course I wouldn’t slew the telescope around like that but this gave me confidence that it would keep my phone gripped on tight. It a lot of fun when more than one person can see the live image on the screen. Its cloudy for me out tonight but I’d bet you can get some good planetary views maybe some bright DSO’s (turn your phone into a astronomy cam for under $20 bucks not bad at all).

This was one of a number of adapters I looked at for use on microscopes for a student laboratory (I examined most for sale on Amazon). I rank it number 2 behind the Gosky universal adapter. The design of the device is one of the more effective of those available. I particularly like the screw clamp system which I found easy to use. Attaching and aligning the camera on the scope was about as easy as with the Gosky-particularly once you get used to the directions to turn the clamping system on the scope. The one issue with this device is being made of all plastic even when well tightened onto the eye piece/stem it would fairly easily be levered off. I found I could solve the problem with putting some stick on velcro strip around the stem and then using the clamp. A 1 in wide band of rubber would likely do fine as well -I just used the 1st available solution from the drawer. This provided the secure attachment that had me reasonably confident a cell phone would not hit the floor. Although I would not put it to use in a student laboratory I think it is a good device and will be using this for other work.
